Here there be Dragon’s _ Tropical Low 2022

Instinctive painterly gestures recall and capture the wild intimate experience of sitting in a giant Ficus Virens during a severe tropical storm.

To feel the oncoming tempest I climbed inside the trunk of this big ancient being located on my property. It was an ideal sanctuary to hide in amongst its multitude of roots that formed human sized caverns.

I nested in the dense wet cloisters of warped and twisted branches. I closed my eyes allowing the wild blasts of wind and rain to wash over me. I sensed myself falling in, saturated by rain, the edge of my body merged with the surface of the tree, and I found myself dissolving into the Arcadia of this creatures inner world.  I fell into its infinite maze of roots, branches and leaves.

A roaring kiss of a dragon smashed the canopy, a shiver tingled throughout, I found my way home in the rain.
